Author Guidelines
The Journal of Modern Science and Innovation (JMSI) invites original research articles, review papers, and case studies that contribute to the fields of engineering, technology, and pedagogical sciences. To ensure a seamless peer-review and publication process, all authors are required to adhere to the following guidelines.
General Formatting & Submission Requirements
- File Format: Submissions must be in Microsoft Word format (
.doc or .docx).
- Language: Articles must be written in high-quality academic English. Consistency in either British or American English is required throughout the manuscript.
- Typography: Use Times New Roman, 12 pt font size, with 1.5 line spacing.
- Page Limits: Manuscripts should typically range between 5 and 20 pages, including tables, figures, and references.
- Originality: Submission of a manuscript implies that the work has not been published before and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere
Figures and Images:
- All figures (charts, diagrams, photographs) must be high resolution (at least 300 dpi).
- Figures should be numbered consecutively (e.g., Figure 1, Figure 2) and have a descriptive caption placed below the figure.
- Please provide figures in JPEG, PNG, or TIFF formats within the manuscript.
Tables:
- Tables should be submitted as editable text, not as images.
- Tables should be numbered (e.g., Table 1, Table 2) and have a clear heading placed above the table.
- Ensure that the data in tables does not duplicate information already described in the text.
Mathematical Equations:
- Equations should be editable. Use the Microsoft Equation Editor or MathType add-on.
- Do not submit equations as non-editable images.
- Equations should be numbered in parentheses to the right, (e.g., E = mc2 (1)).
Manuscript Structure (IMRAD)
To maintain scientific rigor, authors should follow the standard IMRAD structure:
- Title: Concise, descriptive, and informative (avoiding chemical formulas or abbreviations).
- Abstract: A single paragraph (150–250 words) summarizing the research objective, methodology, key results, and primary conclusions.
- Keywords: 5–8 specific terms for indexing purposes.
- Introduction: Provides the research background, clearly states the problem, and defines the study's objectives.
- Methods: Detailed description of the research design, materials, participants, or technical procedures to allow for replicability.
- Results & Discussion: A clear presentation of findings supported by data, followed by an analytical comparison with existing literature.
- Conclusion: Synthesizes the findings, highlights the practical implications, and suggests directions for future research.
- References: Citations and the reference list must strictly follow either APA 7th Edition or IEEE style. Please ensure all URLs and DOIs are active.
Publication Ethics & Integrity
JMSI maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward academic misconduct.
- Plagiarism: All manuscripts are screened via CrossCheck/iThenticate. The similarity index must be below 15%, excluding references and common phrases.
- Author Contributions: All listed authors must have made a significant contribution to the research.
- Article Processing Charge (APC): The publication fee for this journal is $40 . This fee covers the costs of peer review, indexing, and online hosting.
- Payment Method: After the manuscript is formally accepted for publication, the editorial office will send an invoice with payment instructions to the corresponding author via email.
Editorial & Peer Review Process
JMSI employs a Double-Blind Peer Review model to ensure the highest level of objectivity and scientific quality.
- Anonymity: The identities of both the authors and the reviewers remain concealed throughout the process. Authors should ensure that their manuscripts do not contain self-identifying information in the initial submission file.
- Evaluation Criteria: Submissions are assessed based on:
- Originality and novelty of the work.
- Technical soundness and methodological rigor.
- Clarity of expression and logical flow.
- Relevance to the journal’s scope.
Review Timeline: The initial review cycle typically takes 2 to 4 weeks. Authors will be notified of the editorial decision (Accept, Revisions Required, or Reject) via the OJS platform.
Submission Preparation Checklist
All submissions must meet the following requirements.
- Originality & Status: The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- File Format: The submission file is in Microsoft OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.

- Formatting: All illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
- Technical Requirements: The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
- Public Offer Acceptance: I have read and I accept the terms and conditions of the Public Offer (Publication Agreement) of the Journal of Modern Scientific Innovations.
